Malaysia’s eco-friendly homes

I really appreciate the fact that people are now getting behind the idea of reducing their homes carbon footprint, but what about the trade off. Do eco-friendly homes have to look like the interior exploded and pushed the walls and roof in all sorts of different directions? While I really do not care for the architecture, the view might just make up for it.
